Impératif de L’élève avant tout — Son Honneur l’honorable Russ Mirasty, lieutenant-gouverneur de la Saskatchewan
Russ Mirasty est devenu le 23e lieutenant-gouverneur de la Saskatchewan en juillet 2019. Il est le premier Autochtone à occuper cette fonction.
Son Honneur est né et a grandi à La Ronge, en Saskatchewan. Il est membre de la bande Lac La Ronge et parle couramment le cri. Il s’est joint à la Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC) en 1976 et a été affecté dans sept provinces, a exercé des fonctions dans chaque province et territoire et a participé à un échange avec le Corps de police du Territoire du Nord en Australie. Après avoir pris sa retraite de la GRC, Monsieur Mirasty a contribué à la mise en œuvre d’initiatives éducatives et a siégé à plusieurs conseils d’administration visant à réduire la pauvreté et à promouvoir la sécurité au sein de la collectivité.
Son Honneur mène une vie très active et participe régulièrement à des marathons de course à pied et de ski de fond. Monsieur Mirasty et sa femme, Donna Mirasty, ont une résidence à La Ronge. Ils ont deux enfants et deux petits-enfants.
