Shalen Fox is a Cree man from Sweetgrass First Nation. Shalen is a son, father, teacher, and coach. Shalen has been teaching for 11 years, as his convocation was in 2011 and recently completed his Masters in 2020. He has taught at Sturgeon Lake First Nation as a physical education teacher and is currently at John Paul II Collegiate as a graduation coach, working with Indigenous students on academics, attendance, and attitude. Shalen works with the staff to help understand the Indigenous culture as they want to help Indigenous students through education. Bringing in awareness into the school and community has been a big part of our school success. Shalen strives on building healthy relationships with his students as they work on being better people in society.
